IL Merlo Nero Ristorante
About This Spot
Arriving at IL Merlo Nero Ristorante, you’re gently welcomed by the serene embrace of Lake Garda’s shimmering waters just steps away. The pace here feels unhurried, inviting you to settle into a space where the natural beauty of the lakeside and the soft murmur of conversations mingle effortlessly. It’s the kind of place that feels simultaneously restful and quietly alive — perfect for those who want to soak in the calm while savoring simple pleasures.
This is a relaxed, unpretentious Italian eatery that thrives on the joy of genuine hospitality and fresh, honest flavors. The outdoor seating stretches along the lake’s edge, creating a peaceful spot where the gentle breeze carries scents of herbs and the subtle saltiness of lake air. It’s easy to imagine lingering here, letting the changing light of the afternoon slip into the warm glow of early evening.
The dining experience at IL Merlo Nero is deeply connected to the rhythms of the lake and the surrounding landscape, from the way seafood is celebrated in dishes crafted with care, to the refreshing ease of an Aperol Spritz in hand. Plates arrive thoughtfully, never rushed, offering tastes that feel like an invitation to a slower, more rooted way of appreciating food.
Behind the scenes, the staff’s quiet attentiveness adds to the feeling of being truly looked after rather than merely served. There’s a sense of ease in their hospitality — friendly without being intrusive — that deepens the comfort of visiting this charming spot. The mix of locals and wanderers here seems to reflect a shared appreciation for this lakeside gem, where the mood is as much about connection and place as it is about the meal itself.
In all, IL Merlo Nero Ristorante unfolds like a lived-in story — a place to pause, watch the lake’s moods shift, and allow good food and kind company to root the moment into memory. It’s a quietly joyful discovery for anyone drawn to the simple, authentic pleasures of Garda’s lakeside life.

We stopped at this beautiful restaurant for a delicious lake side meal during our honeymoon. They were so attentive during our visit and made the time even more special with their friendliness and hospitality!

Great place to eat, and the added bonus of a thunderstorm made it even more exciting! Recommend the Hugo Spritz!

We had our yummy food just 2 meters away from the lake. I absolutely loved the view. The quality of food was so good. The prices were not high at all and the personnel were truly friendly and professional. 100% recommended.

Stopped while in the lakeside town of Garda. Big outdoor seating area right on the lake. Easy place for lunch. Nothing fancy or over the top. Prices seemed reasonable for the view and quality of the food. We got the grilled veg plate a pizza and a Marinara salad see photos. Wait staff was attentive but we were here during off season early March. My pizza was tasty. We had two large beers on tap, one bottle of water and one non-alcoholic mocktail, one pizza, salad and grilled veg. In total just under 60 euros.

Amazing food. Good quality to price ratio. Fantastic view over the lake. Quiet when we visited for a late lunch. We did have 1 wasp bothering us a lot but not much the restaurant can do about that. Toilet was clean (only 1 though). Staff were friendly. Espresso was top quality and strong... As expected in Italy. Our son had a carnivore meat pizza and it was well filled with a thin bottom. Will visit again.

We are so glad we have chosen this place for dinner in Garda! The food (we had pizzas, tagliatelli with shrimps, scalop, zucchini) especially tagliatelle was perfect! The place is wonderful, nice view! Reccommend.
